A plethora of shows, including the much-anticipated Panchayat and Mirzapur, are set to return with new seasons on OTT platforms in 2024. Here’s a look at eight such web series returning this year.
Panchayat 3 on Amazon Prime Video:
Amazon Prime Video had teased the first look of popular characters from Panchayat Season 3 in December. The show follows the story of Abhishek (Jitendra Kumar), an engineering graduate, who joins as the panchayat secretary in Phulera village. How this rural experience transforms his outlook towards life forms the rest of the plot.
Paatal Lok Season 2 on Amazon Prime Video:
Paatal Lok, the critically-acclaimed Amazon Prime Video series, is set to return with its second instalment in 2024. Jaideep Ahlawat, reprising his role as Hathiram Chaudhary, will once again navigate the complex world of crime and justice in the second season. Created by Sudip Sharma, the first season left audiences on the edge of their seats with its gripping narrative and stellar performances.
Maharani Season 3 on SonyLIV:
Huma Qureshi will return as homemaker-turned-politician Rani Bharti in the third season of Maharani on SonyLIV. As Rani delves deeper into the world of politics, viewers can expect more intrigue, power struggles, and unexpected twists. Subhash Kapoor's creation promises to keep audiences hooked with its gripping storyline and strong character development.
Gullak Season 4 on SonyLIV:
The Mishra family — portrayed by Jameel Khan, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Vaibhav Raj Gupta and Harsh Mayar — is set to make a return on SonyLIV with the fourth season of Gullak. Produced by The Viral Fever (TVF), this fan-favorite show explores the everyday nuances of family life in middle-class households.
Sunflower Season 2 on ZEE5:
Sunil Grover-led Sunflower is gearing up for its second season, bringing back its unique blend of crime and situational comedy. Set in a middle-class housing society in Mumbai, the series introduces viewers to quirky characters and unexpected plot twists in the backdrop of a murder investigation. Directed by Vikas Bahl, the first season was a hit, leaving fans eager for more.
Aashram Season 4 on MX Player:
Even though a teaser of Aashram Season 4 was released in 2022, the Bobby Deol-starrer crime thriller, where he plays a corrupt godman, didn’t arrive on OTT in 2023. The official logline of the upcoming season reads, “Hukum is facing protests from his cabinet while Sunderlal joins hands with Baba. Banno helps HS by sourcing FIRs against Monty and Bhopa. Ujagar helps Pammi by getting her lawyers. The trial takes a turn when Baba reveals he is castrated.”
Aarya Season 3 Part 2 on Disney+ Hotstar:
The first part of the third season of Sushmita Sen-headlined mafia thriller Aarya became an instant hit soon after dropping on Disney+ Hotstar in November, 2023. Aarya is now the boss of the drug cartel, and is still fighting to protect her family from a new enemy, Sooraj (Indraneil Sengupta). The first part ended on a cliffhanger as Aarya was shot. And we cannot wait to find out her fate in the second part of the season.
Mirzapur Season 3 on Amazon Prime Video:
One of the most popular gangster crime dramas in the Indian OTT space, Mirzapur, is slated to return with the third season in 2024. The second season ended with a shootout in which Munna (Divyenndu) and Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi) are wounded, and Guddu (Ali Fazal) and Golu (Shweta Tripathi) finally avenge their sibling’s murder by killing Munna. Sharad (Anjum Sharma) saves Kaleen, leaving Guddu in Kaleen's regal chair in the end.
