Panchayat Season 3 has emerged as one of the top three most-watched shows on Prime Video India, the streamer announced on Wednesday.
The latest season of the popular rural comedy show set a global record on its release on Prime Video on May 28, trending at number one in 26 countries and territories. The series has already reached viewers in over 167 countries since then.
“Heart is full after seeing Phulera waasis on top #PanchayatOnPrime,” the streaming platform wrote on social media alongside a poster highlighting the achievement.
Panchayat has been winning hearts since its debut in 2018. Season 2 of the show earned the inaugural Best Web Series (OTT) Award at the 54th International Film Festival of India in 2023.
Created by The Viral Fever, Panchayat is directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra and written by Chandan Kumar. It chronicles the journey of an engineering graduate (played by Jitendra Kumar) who reluctantly becomes the panchayat secretary in the fictional village of Phulera in Uttar Pradesh. The third season delves into the lives of the residents of Phulera, where politics and rivalry lead to humorous challenges.
Raghubir Yadav, Neena Gupta, Faisal Malik, Chandan Roy, Sanvikaa, Durgesh Kumar and Sunita Rajwar play key roles in the show.
