The 97th Oscars will be held on March 2, 2025 (March 3 in India), a week earlier than the 96th edition held on March 10 this year, announced the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Wednesday.
The nominations will be announced on January 17, 2025. Like every year, the ceremony will take place at the iconic Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
“Mark your calendars! The 97th Oscars will take place on Sunday, March 2, 2025. Nominations will be announced on Friday, January 17, 2025,” the Academy's official page wrote on Instagram.
Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer bagged the coveted best picture award at this year’s edition of the Academy Awards. Cillian Murphy's portrayal of American physicist J Oppenheimer earned him the title of best actor. Additionally, Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal of Lewis Strauss in the same film marked his debut Oscar win as best supporting actor.
Oppenheimer earned an impressive 13 nominations, ultimately claiming victory in seven categories. Emma Stone's performance in Poor Things earned her the best actress award.
