With less than 48 hours to go for the 95th Academy Awards night, the world’s eyes are set on movies like Everything Everywhere All At Once, The Banshees of Inisherin and Top Gun: Maverick vying for the ultimate glory. India’s RRR is also in the mix with its song Naatu Naatu in the running for an Oscar in the Best Original Song category. Here’s our last-minute guide to the Oscars.

When to watch in India

The 95th Academy Awards ceremony will be held on March 12 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. In India, the event will be broadcast on March 13 at 5:30am.

Where to watch in India

The 95th Oscars will be streaming live on Disney+ Hotstar for viewers in India. Star Movies, Star Movies Select, Star World, Star World Premiere HD, Star One, Star Plus, Star Gold, Star Utsav, Fox, Fox Crime, FX, Vijay will also broadcast the event.

Who is the host

Popular television anchor Jimmy Kimmel will host the Oscars this year. This will be his third stint as the host of the prestigious award show. Kimmel previously hosted the 89th Academy Awards in 2017 and the 90th Academy Awards in 2018.

Who are the presenters

India’s Deepika Padukone is one of the presenters at the 95th Oscars. The actress will be joining the likes of Riz Ahmed, Emily Blunt, Glenn Close, Jennifer Connelly, Ariana DeBose, Samuel L. Jackson, Dwayne Johnson, Michael B. Jordan, Troy Kotsur, Jonathan Majors, Melissa McCarthy, Janelle Monáe, Questlove, Zoe Saldaña, Donnie Yen, Halle Bailey and Antonio Banderas.

Elizabeth Banks, Jessica Chastain, John Cho, Andrew Garfield, Hugh Grant, Danai Gurira, Salma Hayek Pinault, Nicole Kidman, Florence Pugh, Sigourney Weaver, Halle Berry, Paul Dano, Cara Delevingne, Harrison Ford, Kate Hudson, Mindy Kaling, Eva Longoria, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Andie MacDowell, Elizabeth Olsen, Pedro Pascal, and John Travolta will also present the golden statuettes at the event.

Important performances

Four of the five songs nominated in the Best Original Song category at the 95th Oscars will be performed live at the awards show. This includes Naatu Naatu from S.S. Rajamouli’s RRR. Singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava will be performing on the Oscars stage.

Rihanna will perform Lift Me Up from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, while actor-singer Sofia Carson and songwriter Diane Warren will be crooning to Applause from Tell It like a Woman.

Academy award-winning singer David Byrne, Oscar-nominated actress Stephanie Hsu, and music band Son Lux will perform This Is A Life from Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Grammy-winning musician Lenny Kravitz will be part of the ‘In Memoriam’ performance.

Indian movies in the fray

Shaunak Sen’s All That Breathes is competing for the award for Best Documentary Feature Film. The Elephant Whisperers, directed by Kartiki Gonsalves, is eyeing an Oscar for the Best Documentary Short Film.

Naatu Naatu song from S.S. Rajamouli's period drama RRR is also in the running for Oscars this year in the Best Original Song category.
