Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert — the Oscar-winning director duo of Everything Everywhere All At Once — are working on an episode of the Star Wars’ upcoming series Skeleton Crew for Disney+, according to US-based entertainment magazine Deadline.

The series began filming over the summer and wrapped in recent months, but as with all things Star Wars, the show has been shrouded in secrecy, with the list of directors unknown.

Skeleton Crew stars Jude Law in the lead role and is created by Jon Watts. While plot details remain under wraps, the space opera series will take place in the New Republic era, following the events of 1983’s Return of the Jedi. The Mandalorian team of Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni serve as executive producers.

As per the Deadline report, the Daniels completed principal photography on their episode of Skeleton Crew before the duo and their team took home seven Academy Awards for their absurdist sci-fi earlier this month.

Everything Everywhere All At Once became the first independent film to gross over $100 million at the box office worldwide after the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Kwan and Scheinert began their career as directors of music videos, including the video for the popular single Turn Down for What (2013) by DJ Snake and Lil Jon. After a slew of critically acclaimed short films, they made their feature film debut in 2016 with the surrealist comedy-drama Swiss Army Man starring Paul Dano, Daniel Radcliffe and Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
