Oscar-winner director Guillermo del Toro terms Avatar: The Way of Water a ‘staggering achievement’

Directed by James Cameron, the film stars Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang and Kate Winslet

Academy Award-winner Guillermo del Toro has termed James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way Of Water ‘a staggering achievement’ after watching the movie at a special screening arranged for the who’s who of the industry.

After producer Jon Landau took to social media to speak about putting the final touches to the film, Guillermo del Toro responded by saying that the movie was nothing short of an epic.

The Shape of Water director tweeted, “A staggering achievement- AVATAR TWOW is chokefull of majestic Vistas and emotions at an epic, epic scale. A master at the peak of his powers…”

The new movie is a sequel to Avatar, which came out in 2009 and went on to become the highest-grossing film of all time at the global box office with collections worth USD 2.84 billion. Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, Avatar: The Way of Water begins to tell the story of the Sully family.

Produced by Cameron and Jon Landau, the film stars Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement and Kate Winslet.

20th Century Studios India will release Avatar: The Way of Water in the cinemas in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam on December 16.
