Oppenheimer vs Barbie Week 1 domestic collections: Christopher Nolan’s biographical thriller streets ahead of Margot Robbie-starrer

Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer minted Rs 73.15 crore net in India during the first week, comfortably beating Greta Gerwig-helmed fantasy comedy Barbie’s earning of only Rs 27.5 crore nett during the same period here.

However, Barbie, headlined by Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling and Simu Liu, has the last laugh in terms of total earnings worldwide as it amassed a staggering USD 495 million so far compared to Cillian Murphy-starrer Oppenheimer’s collection of USD 230 million.

Out of Barbie’s total earnings, USD 237 million came from the US market and the rest originated from international markets. Oppenheimer, on the other hand, collected USD 117.8 million in the US and USD 112.2 million from international markets.

Meanwhile, Tom Cruise-starrer Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One, which released in theatres on July 12, is inching closer to the Rs 100 crore-mark in India. The Christopher McQuarrie-helmed actioner has minted Rs 98 crore nett in 16 days at the Indian box office and grossed USD 378 million worldwide.
