Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer suffered a slight dip at the Indian box office with a total collection of Rs 4.5 crore nett on Day 8, which took its total earning in India to Rs 77.7 crore nett, according to trade sources.

Released alongside Grate Gerwig’s Barbie, the Cillian Murphy-starrer opened with Rs 14.5 crore nett on July 21 and amassed Rs 73.27 crore nett by the end of its first week. Barbie, however, managed to add Rs 27.5 crore nett to its kitty in its first week in India and an additional Rs 1.55 crore nett on Day 8, reaching a total collection of Rs 29.05 crore nett.

While Nolan’s historical biopic outperformed Gerwig's fantasy comedy in India, Barbie was way ahead in terms of worldwide collections. The Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling-starrer collected USD 549 million around the globe vis-a-vis Oppenheimer’s USD 239 million, according to Box Office Mojo.

The competition at the domestic box office is about to intensify with Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani currently running in theaters.
