Oscar-winning director Christopher Nolan and his wife, producer Emma Thomas, were honoured by King Charles III with a Knighthood and Damehood, respectively, during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday for their exceptional contributions to the film industry over the years.
“Arise, Sir Christopher Nolan and Dame Emma Thomas. The couple were recognised for their extraordinary contribution to Film, with their partnership producing major blockbusters such as The Dark Knight trilogy and Oppenheimer,” wrote the royal family on their official Instagram handle, sharing photos from the ceremony.
While Nolan donned a crisp navy-blue suit, Thomas wore a monochrome dress at the ceremony.
Earlier this year, Nolan won his first best director Oscar for Cillian Murphy-starrer Oppenheimer, his film about the father of the atomic bomb.
Produced by Thomas, Oppenheimer also took home the Oscars for best picture at the 96th Academy Awards, capping a seven-trophy haul at the prestigious awards ceremony — the maximum won by any film this year.
