True-crime podcast enthusiast trio of Steven Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez must hound out the real culprit when actor Paul Rudd drops dead on stage on the opening night of a new play, casting suspicion on his co-star Meryl Streep and other actors, in the trailer for the third season of Only Murders in the Building.
Dropped by Hulu on Wednesday evening, the two-minute-38-second-long trailer takes us back to the final moments of Season 2, showing Paul Rudd’s death on stage while acting in Oliver’s (Martin Short) comeback play on Broadway. True-crime podcast enthusiast trio of Mebel (Gomez), Charles (Martin) and Oliver (Short) band together to find out the killer. The clip introduces a set of new characters, including Meryl Streep’s veteran actress suffering from performance anxiety and Ashley Park’s TikTok-addicted starlet. It also shows us Mebel getting cosy with a man from her past.
Other characters from the first two seasons, including the FBI officer and the residents of the apartment building where the trio live, make appearances in the trailer, along with the people behind the production of Oliver’s return to Broadway. However, Tina Fey’s Cinda Canning could not be seen in the clip.
Only Murders in the Building Season 3, which also features Jesse Williams, Nathan Lane and Zoe Colletti, will be streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, although the streamer is yet to announce the premiere date. The show is created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman.
Sharing the trailer on Twitter, Hulu’s official handle wrote, “Meryl Streep and Paul Rudd join Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez for an all new mystery. Stream #OnlyMurdersInTheBuilding August 8 on @hulu , Disney+ internationally, and Star+ in Latin America.”
