One Piece anime will return with new episodes of the Egghead Island arc in April 2025 after a six-month-long hiatus starting this month, makers Toei Animation announced on Sunday ahead of the long-running show’s 25th anniversary.
While the anime will be on a break, a special edited version of the story’s Fish-Man Island arc with 21 episodes featuring contemporary visuals will be released on October 27.
Sharing the news on Instagram, Toei Animation wrote, “The Egghead Arc is now on break and will resume in April 2025. #OnePiece will still continue with ONE PIECE LOG: FISH-MAN ISLAND SAGA, a special edited version of the original arc from the series! Begins late October in an abridged story with enhanced visuals! Stay tuned for more details.”
The announcement comes after the airing of episode 1,122 of the anime series. The remastered version of Fish-Man Island arc will run from October 27 to March 30, with a new episode dropping every week. The original arc aired between 2011 and 2012.
The new opening song for the reimagined arc is called We Go! and will be sung by Kitadani Hiroshi in collaboration with special guests. The ending theme is called Sailing and is sung by BE:FIRST.
In addition to the new Fish-Man Island Saga, fans will also be treated to a One Piece Fan Letter, a spin-off episode which will be released on October 20 to mark the 25th anniversary of the anime.
“The episode will honor the enduring legacy of One Piece with a 30-minute ensemble depicting the reunion of the Straw Hat crew from the perspective of non-pirate characters, all taking place after the Summit War in the Sabaody Archipelago. A young girl who admires Nami is in the lead and ready to set off on an adventure of her own,” reads the official description of the upcoming special episode.
Set in the world of pirates, One Piece follows Monkey D. Luffy, a young boy who sets sail with his wacky crew on a perilous journey across the Grand Line to find the legendary treasure One Piece and become the Pirate King. In his quest to achieve freedom in its truest sense, Luffy overcomes formidable enemies, forges meaningful friendships and unravels the world’s secrets.
One Piece’s 1,121th episode recently received a 9.6 rating on IMDb after its release on October 6. It was followed by Episode 1 of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Part 3, Episode 20 of My Hero Academia Season 7 and Episode 1 of Dan Da Dan with 9.3, 8.9 and 8.8 stars, respectively.
