Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s Shakuntala and Dev Mohan’s Dushyant romancing each other in an idyllic setting contrast with hardcore action sequences in the Shaakuntalam trailer, which was dropped by its makers on Wednesday.

Sharing the new trailer of her upcoming Telugu-language film on Instagram on the same day, Samantha wrote, “Get ready to embark on an epic journey of love.”.

Gunasekhar-helmed Shaakuntalam, which also stars Bengali star Jisshu Sengupta as Indra, is set to hit the theatres on April 14 in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.

Based on Kalidasa’s play Abhijnanasakuntalam, the trailer of Shaakuntalam recounts the tale of Shakuntala, who grew up in an ashram in a forest after being abandoned by her parents. During a hunting expedition in the forest, King Dushyant encounters Shakuntala and is enthralled by her beauty. They got married but misunderstandings between them lead to their separation. How Shakuntala, now pregnant with Dushyant’s child, wins her love back forms the rest of the plot.

The makers had earlier released the song Mallika Mallika from the movie. Sung by Ramya Behara and composed by Mani Sharma, the lyrics for the song have been written by Prashant Ingole.
