Suzanne Collins’ fifth book in the Hunger Games series will be released next year. It will be a prequel to the original trilogy, with events taking place in Panem 40 years after the events of the recent film The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, which was released last year. The novel Sunrise on the Reaping is set to release on March 18, 2025.
The story will kick off on the morning of the reaping of the 50th Hunger Games, known as the Second Quarter Quell. It will follow the happenings in the life of Haymitch Abernathy, played by Woody Harrelson in the films. Haymitch had mentored Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss and Josh Hutcherson’s Peeta in the 74th Hunger Games.
