The makers of House of the Dragon Season 2 have dropped a new trailer of the latest instalment of the Game of Thrones prequel following the release of its first episode on Sunday.

The two-minute-14-second-long trailer shows Aegon declaring war following the death of his six-year-old son at the hands of Blood and Cheese. It also teases Rhaenyra’s reaction, who is against Daemon’s actions. The Dance of the Dragons kicks off as Aegon angrily wages war to avenge the slaying of his son.

Following the death of Lucerys, Rhaenyra and her supporters, known as the Blacks, maintained the moral high ground over the Greens. Their next course of action will be determined by the choice between showing restraint or seeking retribution. Daemon’s response of demanding “a son for a son” exacerbates the conflict and intensifies the animosity between the factions.

The trailer also hints at the military strategies central to the Dance of the Dragons. Aemond emphasises that armies are just as crucial as dragons, while Criston Cole, a primary military strategist for the Greens, asserts that controlling Harrenhal will be pivotal for the impending war.

At the end of the video, Criston says that the Greens have voluntarily given the upper hand to the Dragons in the war.

The first episode of the second season of the series, which aired on Sunday, came as a shock to fans. It ended with the killing of Aegon and Helaena's six-year-old son, Jaehaerys, at the hands of Blood and Cheese.

Based on George RR Martin’s novel Fire & Blood, House of the Dragon revolves around House Targaryen’s history, spanning Aegon’s Conquest to the Dance of the Dragons and following their father King Viserys I’s death. A constant power struggle ensues among his heirs, leading to a tumultuous era.
