A new series adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter is in the works at HBO’s streaming service Max, the streamer announced via Twitter on Wednesday.
“Your Hogwarts letter is here. Max has ordered the first ever #HarryPotter scripted television series, a faithful adaptation of the iconic books,” the tweet read.
Rowling, the author of the original seven-part book series, will serve as an executive producer on the project alongside Warner Bros. and Discovery. The series will feature a fresh cast.
"The stories from J.K.Rowling’s Harry Potter books will become a decade-long series with each season dedicated to one of the seven books, full of the fantastic detail, much-loved characters, and dramatic locations that fans have adored for over twenty-five years," read a statement on J. The television series will be the newest addition to the already thriving Harry Potter franchise which includes the bestselling books, an eight-part movie series, the Fantastic Beasts series, theme parks, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Broadway show and the latest Hogwarts Legacy video game that has become widely popular since it's release.
