Legendary ex-hitman Taro Sakamoto teams up with old comrades to protect his family and lead a peaceful life in the Netflix trailer of Sakamoto Days, an adaptation of Yuto Suzuki’s popular manga series, dropped by the streamer on Wednesday.
Filled with action, humour and emotional resonance, the one-minute-47-second-long trailer introduces us to Sakamoto, the greatest assassin of all time. He is feared by villains and held in high esteem by other hitmen till his life changes one day. He falls in love with a convenience store clerk named Aoi and gives up on his action-packed profession for a quiet life.
Preoccupied with love, marriage, and parenting, a now-rotund Sakamoto lives his life in peace as he opens a mom-and-pop store in a small town with his wife. This peace, however, comes at a cost as enemies from Sakamoto’s past barge into his life and threaten the lives of his loved ones.
Nevertheless, Sakamoto, who still retains his battle skills, is ready to shed his peace-loving avatar and a few pounds to fight off his rivals and protect his family at all costs.
Yuto Suzuki recently made a statement to thank his fans for their love. “I want to express my gratitude to the fans, whose support made all of this possible. I hope you will continue to join me in building up SAKAMOTO DAYS! Please enjoy the show,” said the manga’s writer and illustrator.
Tms Entertainment, the studio known for creating series like Detective Conan, Fruits Basket, and Dr Stone, has animated Sakamoto Days. Taku Kishimoto will handle the series composition, while Yo Moriyama will be in charge of the character designs.
The anime is set to stream on Netflix from January 11, 2025.
