Netflix’s crime thriller Sacred Games has topped an IMDb list of the most popular Indian web series of all time, with Prime Video’s Mirzapur and SonyLIV’s Scam 1992 bagging the second and the third positions, respectively.
The rankings, according to IMDb, were based on the page views of IMDb customers in India between January 1, 2018 to May 10, 2023.
"The wait ends as we present you the IMDb Top 50 Most Popular Indian Web Series of all time Determined by fans. Always," the official Twitter handle of the online movie and show database wrote on Monday, sharing the list of top 50 Indian web series of all time.
“The last few years have seen Indian web series evolve rapidly with the rise of streaming options. To chart this journey, here are the IMDb Top 50 all-time most popular Indian web series, determined by the page views of IMDb customers in India between January 1, 2018 to May 10, 2023,” they further said in a statement.
List topper Sacred Games — directed by Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane and Neeraj Ghaywan — stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Saif Ali Khan in important roles. The first season of Amazon Prime Video’s Mirzapur — starring Pankaj Tripathi, Vikrant Massey, Divyenndu and Ali Fazal — started streaming in 2018. The show makers dropped a second season in 2020. Shooting for the third season of the crime thriller has begun.
Hansal Mehta’s Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story, starring Pratik Gandhi as Harshad Mehta, premiered in 2020. Raj & DK’s The Family Man, starring Manoj Bajpayee as an Indian spy, and TVF’s Aspirants (YouTube) also made it to the top shows on the IMDb list.
