The Night Agent Season 1 has emerged as Netflix’s most-watched show with 812,100,000 viewing hours, confirms the streamer’s inaugural ‘What We Watched’ report, which divulges the viewing statistics of over 18,000 titles from January to June 2023.

The twice-a-year engagement report, released by Netflix on December 12, offers insights into the viewing habits of Netflix subscribers. It has Ginny & Georgia Season 2 at No. 2 with 665,100,000 viewing hours, while The Glory's inaugural season comes third with 622,800,000 hours.

Jenny Ortega-led Wednesday claims the fourth position with 507,700,000 hours, closely followed by the limited prequel series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, which raked in 503,000,000 hours.

Among movies, The Mother, starring Jennifer Lopez, emerges as the highest-ranked film, tallying 249,900,000 viewing hours, ranking at number 20 on the list dominated by multi-episode series. Idris Elba's Luther: The Fallen Sun secures the 26th slot with 209,700,000 hours, while Extraction 2, featuring Chris Hemsworth, ranks 29th with 201,800,000 hours.

Netflix emphasises that total hours viewed alone should not be the sole metric for gauging a movie or show’s impact. In an announcement blog post, the streaming service stated, “Success on Netflix comes in all shapes and sizes, and is not determined by hours viewed alone. It’s all about whether a movie or TV show thrilled its audience — and the size of that audience relative to the economics of the title.”

Netflix aims to provide a more comprehensive view of its content landscape by combining the biannual spreadsheets with its existing weekly Top 10 and Most Popular lists. The new move is expected to benefit viewers, creators and industry observers by offering a more nuanced understanding of the streaming platform's diverse and evolving content landscape.
