Netflix has dropped a teaser to announce a weekly Heartstopper podcast featuring exclusive interviews with the cast ahead of the October 3 premiere of the show’s third season.
Hosted by British singer Tia Kofi, the first podcast episode will be released on September 2, with new episodes dropping every Monday throughout the month.
The teaser video features Joe Locke and Kit Connor in conversation with the rest of the cast members of Heartstopper. The interviews are expected to give an insight into the upcoming season without giving out spoilers.
“We've got some news. The first episode of Heartstopper: The Official Netflix Podcast drops on 2 September, with new episodes every Monday throughout the month. Hosted by Tia Kofi, it's packed full of exclusive interviews with the cast as we dig in on what you can expect from season three,” Netflix wrote alongside moments from the upcoming interviews.
Filming for Heartstopper Season 3 wrapped up in December last year. The new eight-episode series is slated to release in October.
Adapted from Alice Oseman’s Heartstopper comics, the Netflix show revolves around Charlie and Nick who navigate high school and love. After meeting for the first time, their unlikely friendship turns into something more in the teenage coming-out story.
“Season 2 ended with Nick beginning to understand the extent of Charlie’s mental health issues, and it’s this that will drive the story through Season 3,” Oseman said in a statement.
“While Heartstopper will always celebrate the joyful and point towards hope, I’m really excited that we are allowing the tone of the show to mature alongside our beloved characters growing up. Mental health, sex, university ambitions, and more: Nick, Charlie, and the Heartstopper teens are getting older, learning more about themselves and each other, and experiencing new desires, new fears, and new joys as they approach adulthood,” she added.
“The Season 3 premiere, suitably titled ‘Love,’ picks up with Charlie eager to tell Nick that he loves him and Nick holding on to something important he has to say to Charlie. As the summer holiday ends and the months race on, the friends begin to realize that the school year will come with both its joys and its challenges. As they learn more about each other and their relationships, plan social events and parties, and start thinking about university choices, everyone must learn to lean on those they love when life doesn’t go to plan,” reads the synopsis of the plot of the third season according to Netflix.
Hayley Atwell, Eddie Marsan and Jonathan Bailey are set to join the show alongside returning cast members like Joe Locke, Kit Connor, Yasmin Finney, Sebastian Croft and William Gao.
