Jawan actress Nayanthara has dethroned her co-star Shah Rukh Khan to become IMDb’s most popular Indian celebrity of the week, the film and television database platform revealed in its latest report.

Fondly referred to as the 'Lady Superstar' in the southern film industries, Nayanthara plays the gritty cop Narmada Rai in Shah Rukh-led Jawan, an Atlee-directed action drama that has taken the box office by storm since its release on September 7. Shah Rukh now holds the second position on the list.

“From debutants to routine rockstars, our Popular Indian Celebrities Feature has got them all Do you spot your favourites?” IMDb wrote on Instagram.

IMDb, the world's leading online movie database, compiles its weekly popular Indian celebrities list based on approximately 200 million visits to its website, coupled with data gathered throughout the week.

Nayanthara's husband and filmmaker Vignesh Shivan, took to social media to celebrate her achievement. "Proud of you Thangamey," he wrote while sharing IMDb’s post on Instagram Stories.

Jawan director Atlee now stands as the third most popular Indian celebrity on IMDb's coveted list.

The fourth spot on IMDb's popular Indian celebrities list is also claimed by Jawan cast member Deepika Padukone, who made an extended cameo appearance in the film. Vijay Sethupathi, already a household name with a vast pan-India fan following, secures the ninth position on the list.

Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Sanya Malhotra and Lehar Khan, who were part of Shah Rukh’s team in Jawan, also find themselves on IMDb's list, holding the 23rd, 24th and 27th positions, respectively.

The other notable celebrities who made it to IMDb’s list include Gagan Dev Riar — who plays Abdul Karim Telgi in Hansal Mehta’s Scam 2003 — at 14th position and Babil Khan, who recently headlined Netflix romcom Friday Night Plan, at 21st position.
