Not many actors have been able to achieve what Nawazuddin Siddiqui did in his upcoming movie Haddi. The 48-year-old actor has essayed the role of a transgender woman, with a little help from more than 80 real-life transgender women who featured alongside him in the movie.
“Working with real-life trans women has been an incredible experience. It’s been an honour and a privilege to understand and learn more about the community. Their presence was empowering, to say the least,” said Nawaz, recollecting his experience of working in Haddi.
Produced by Zee Studios, Haddi has been the talk of the town since the first look of Nawaz for the movie was dropped on Instagram in August. Seen in an all-new avatar in the teaser, Nawaz is almost unrecognisable in his shiny silver dress and red-lipped drag look.
The versatile actor, who shot to fame with his Gangs of Wasseypur, is known for playing unique and special roles. His trans look in this Akshat Ajay Sharma directorial venture has piqued the interest of cinegoers and showcased his dedication to the craft.
Haddi will hit the cinemas in 2023.
