Veteran actors Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur and Kanwaljit Singh are set to share screen space with Vijay Varma and Dibyendu Bhattacharya in Anubhav Sinha’s upcoming thriller series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, streaming platform Netflix announced through a teaser on Thursday.
“The hijack of IC 814, the longest in the history of aviation. 188 passengers stranded inside a plane for 7 days, at times on the ground and at times at 30,000 feet. What did it take to get them back safe? This is the story of those 7 days. A story of resilience, mayhem, skill and tact. Based on true events - IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack is coming soon, only on Netflix,” the streamer wrote on Instagram alongside the video.
The one-minute-12-second long video also features Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, Arvind Swamy, Amrita Puri, Dia Mirza, Patralekha, Pooja Gor, Anupam Tripathi, Aditya Srivastava, Sushant Singh and Yashpal Sharma.
The series delves into the real-life events of the IC-814 hijacking, which led to the plane being diverted to Kandahar, Afghanistan, in 1999. Passengers were eventually released in exchange for imprisoned terrorists in India.

Additionally, Sinha produced two films: Hansal Mehta’s Faraaz, depicting the 2016 Holey Artisan Bakery attack in Dhaka, and Sudhir Mishra’s Afwaah, a thriller featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Bhumi Pednekar.
