Nani’s Dasara trumped Ajay Devgn and Tabu-starrer Bholaa at the box office after a weeklong run in theatres, earning around Rs 70 crore nett in the domestic market against Bholaa’s close to Rs 60 crore collection, according to trade figures out on Friday.
Directed by Srikanth Odela, Dasara earned Rs 2 crore nett in India on Thursday, taking its total collection in India so far to Rs 69.05 crore, according to Box Office India. The worldwide collection of the revenge drama has crossed the Rs 100-crore mark, a first for Nani, and stands at Rs 104 crore.
Meanwhile, Ajay-directed Bholaa raked in approximately Rs 2.5 crore nett on its eighth day in cinemas, taking its total domestic box office collection to Rs 59.68 crore. The action thriller has grossed Rs 78 crore worldwide.
Bholaa, a remake of Lokesh Kanagaraj-directed Tamil film Kaithi (2019), has not been able to match the box office performance of Drishyam 2, Ajay and Tabu’s previous screen outing together. The 2022 mystery thriller had been a massive box office success and had earned Rs 104 crore nett in its first week of theatrical run in India.
Despite the sub-par performance at the box office, Bholaa has emerged as the third-highest grossing Hindi film of 2023 in India, after Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathaan (Rs 543 crore nett) and Ranbir Kapoor’s romantic comedy Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (Rs 139.6 crore nett).
