After wrapping up the shoot of the social drama Aamar Boss, starring Rakhee, and celebrating the success of Raktabeej, which completed 100 days in the theatres recently, filmmakers Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee are all set to start the shoot of their next film Bohurupi — starring Abir Chatterjee, Ritabhari Chakraborty, Koushani Mukherjee and Shiboprosad — from March 12. Bohurupi, a thriller, will be a Puja release.

“Abir and Ritabhari are coming together once again after Fatafati, and this will be our third film with Ritabhari (from Windows Production). We will be directing Ritabhari for the first time. The chemistry between Abir and Ritabhari was really amazing and it worked wonders for Fatafati. Abir delivered blockbuster Puja films in two consecutive years, and he is a perfect fit for Bohurupi. This will be a challenging role for him, and we will be directing Abir for the second time,” said Shiboprosad.

The upcoming thriller Bohurupi comes on the heels of their first thriller Raktabeej which was based on the Burdwan blast in 2014. The film, starring Victor Banerjee, Abir Chatterjee, and Mimi Chakraborty, was about the homecoming of a man, who holds an important portfolio, and how an accidental blast in a firecracker unit unveils a bigger threat to his life.

The story of Bohurupi is based on real events that spanned from 1998 to 2005 and then it came back once again in 2014. It is related to a crime that made waves in Bengal. “We had the germ of the idea in 2012, and we have been planning it since then. And this is our biggest film to date; the canvas is bigger. We will be shooting it across 78 locations (Calcutta, Bagnan, Bantala, Barrackpore, Boranagore, Berhampore, Beldanga, Bolpur, Bethuadahari and more) over 40 days,” said Shiboprosad.

Talking about the success of Raktabeej, Shiboprosad said: “We have delivered many blockbusters in the past which ran for 100 or more than 200 days in the theatres. Audiences have faith in our films. It was a huge thing for us that Raktabeej ran for more than 100 days. We had directed a thriller for the first time and it connected with the audience. We have also completed our satellite and digital premieres with Raktabeej.” While Bohurupi releases this Puja, Aamar Boss is eyeing a May release.
