Naga Chaitanya has become engaged to Sobhita Dhulipala, announced the actor’s father Nagarjuna Akkineni on Thursday, sharing pictures of the couple.

“We are delighted to announce the engagement of our son, Naga Chaitanya, to Sobhita Dhulipala, which took place this morning at 9:42 am. We are overjoyed to welcome her into our family. Congratulations to the happy couple. Wishing them a lifetime of love and happiness. God bless," wrote Nagarjuna on X alongside pictures of Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita from the engagement ceremony.

While Sobhita looked gorgeous in an orange-and-pink embroidered silk sari, Naga Chaitanya sported a white kurta. A peach-coloured gajra and gold-toned accessories, including a layered necklace, bangles and jhumkas, raised Sobhita’s glamour quotient. Nagarjuna posed with the newly-engaged couple in a pastel blue kurta featuring floral motifs.

The ceremony reportedly took place at Nagarjuna's home in Hyderabad. Nagarjuna’s wife Amala Akkineni and his younger son Akhil Akkineni were present along with Sobhita’s parents at the engagement ceremony.

Naga Chaitanya was previously married to actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The couple split in 2021 after four years of marriage.

Sobhita and Naga Chaitanya sparked dating rumours with their European getaway in 2022. However, they had never officially confirmed their relationship prior to the engagement.

On the work front, Naga Chaitanya is set to headline Chandoo Mondeti's upcoming film Thandel alongside Sai Pallavi. Sobhita last appeared in Dev Patel’s directorial debut Monkey Man.
