Karishma Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan and Vijay Varma are among a set of colourful characters met by Pankaj Tripahi’s murder investigator in the teaser of the star-studded whodunnit Murder Mubarak, set to stream on Netflix from March 15.

Dropped by the makers on Monday, the one-minute-27-second-long teaser introduces possible suspects for a murder in Pankaj’s voiceover. He introduces Sara’s posh south Delhi princess, Vijay’s heartbroken lover and Karishma’s ‘dream girl’ from old suspense films while trying to unmask a murderer.

Things get even more complicated when Dimple Kapadia’s eccentric artist and Sanjay Kapoor’s character with a royal connection enter the fray. Tisca Chopra’s gossipmonger and Suhail Nayyar’s party animal complete the long line-up of suspects.

“Murder Mubarak,” Pankaj says at the end of the teaser, revealing the film’s title, as he narrates how a murderer could be hiding in plain sight and how they are likely to enjoy their success.

Directed by Homi Adajania and produced by Maddock Films, the film is an adaptation of the 2021 Anuja Chauhan book Club You to Death.

“Murder Mubarak is a cinematic concoction of actors that are loved across genres and generations, and believe me, each one of them has done such a fab job in bringing these eccentric characters to life,” said the director about the ensemble cast.

Murder Mubarak marks Karishma’s return to films since her 2012 movie Dangerous Ishhq. Though Karishma already made her OTT debut with the 2020 webseries Mentalhood, she has not been seen on any OTT content since.
