Hoichoi will soon present a Mahalaya-special show headlined by Rajnandini Paul and a web series marking Paoli Dam’s OTT debut, announced the streaming platform in a statement on Friday.

Named after the iconic All India Radio programme Mohishashur Mordini, Hoichoi’s Mahalaya-special show will be available to stream in web series format from October 2.

Directed by Sayantan Mukherjee, Mohishashur Mordini features Rajnandini in the role of Mahamaya. The Mahalaya-special web show, first of its kind on a streaming platform, will bring the myth of Mahamaya to a global audience right from the beginning of the seven-day prelude to Durga Puja.

Mohishashur Mordini delves into the mythological tale of Adhya Shakti Maa Mahamaya, a supreme embodiment of the divine feminine. Through her various incarnations — Vindhyavasini, Durga and Mahishasuramardini — Mahamaya emerges to restore cosmic balance and vanquish ancient evils such as Ghorasura and Mahishasura. The show will also depict significant mythological events such as Sati’s self-immolation and Shiva’s wrath.

“Beyond a simple retelling of mythology, Mohishashur Mordini serves as a tribute to the philosophy that without Shakti, life ceases to exist. The series aims to inspire modern audiences with its message of feminine power and spirituality,” Hoichoi said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Paoli will make her OTT debut with Kaberi, where she will share screen space with Sourav Chakraborty. The series, soon to arrive on Hoichoi, will delve into the topic of domestic violence, depicting the intricacies of a woman’s struggles and resilience.

“Kaberi is more than just a role; it’s a deeply personal journey into the heart of resilience and strength. I hope this story resonates with those who have faced adversity and empowers them to find their own voice,” Paoli said in a statement.
