Actor Vishnu Manchu has dropped the first-look character poster of Mohanlal as the “legendary kirata of the forest” from the upcoming mythological drama film Kannappa. Mohanlal will be playing a cameo in the film.
“‘KIRATA’! The legend Sri. Mohalal in #Kannappa. Has the honor of sharing the screen space with one of the greatest actors of our time. This entire sequence will be 💣💣💣💣💣! @Mohanlal,” Vishnu Manchu, who plays the titular character Kannappa in the film, wrote alongside the poster on X.
The poster features the actor as a brute hunter wearing clothes made from animal hides. He sports a bold face paint and braided hair, adding to his savage look. He wields a sword and confronts an enemy in the photo.
Kannappa is directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and produced by Mohan Babu. Apart from Mohanlal and Vishnu, the ensemble cast includes Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Arpit Ranka, Kaushal Manda, Rahul Madhav and Devaraj in key supporting roles.
The film will also feature cameo appearances by Prabhas, Akshay Kumar (marking his Telugu film debut) and Kajal Aggarwal.
Kannappa is slated to release in theatres on April 25, 2025.
Mohanlal was last seen in the fantasy drama Malai kottai Vaaliban, directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery. In 2023, the actor appeared in two movies—the thriller Neru alongside Priyamani and the Rajinikanth-starrer Jailer.
The actor will be next featured in the children’s film Barroz: Guardian of Treasures, which will mark his directorial debut. The movie is slated to release in theatres on December 25.
