Tollywood actress Mimi Chakraborty is set to share screen space with Bangladeshi actor Shakib Khan in the upcoming film Toofan, which will also star Bangladeshi actress Masuma Rahman Nabila, production banner SVF said in a statement on Monday.
Directed by Raihan Rafi and backed by the production giants Alpha-i, Chorki, and SVF, Toofan made headlines last year with its grand announcement. While Shakib was named as the male protagonist, the names of the female leads were kept under wraps.
Expressing her eagerness about the film, Mimi Chakraborty said, “Venturing into Bangladesh has always been a pleasure for me, whether for work or leisure. Sharing the screen with Bangladeshi superstar Shakib Khan for the first time is truly exhilarating.”
Nabila, known for her impactful performance in Ayanabaji, said, “There's a sense of joy in getting back to work. Now, our focus lies on ensuring a seamless journey from production to audience reception.”
Shahriar Shakil, Redwan Roni and Mahendra Soni — representatives from Alpha-i, Chorki, and SVF, respectively — shared their delight in casting Mimi and Nabila for the project. They spoke about Mimi's widespread popularity across Bengali regions and the affection audiences hold for Nabila.
