Action thriller Lakadbaggha, starring Milind Soman, Ridhi Dogra and Anshuman Jha, is set to have its India premiere at the Kolkata International Film Festival 2022, scheduled to be held from December 15 to December 22 in Kolkata.
French filmmaker Jean-Marc-Selva shot the film and action director Kecha Khamphakdee —the man behind Ong-Bak’s action stunts— directed the action sequences for it, according to a press communique from the makers. Globally, Lakadbaggha will premiere at HBO’s South Asian International Film Festival New York.
The story is based on Indian pet breeds in Kolkata. The film promises to bring the Israeli martial arts form Krav-Maga in all its might to India in a story that is likely to resonate with animal lovers, the makers said in a statement.
Anshuman, who trained with the Falcon & The Winter Soldier action director Tsahi Shemesh for the film, said, “Lakadbaggha is a story of an ordinary boy on an extraordinary journey for the love of animals, and being ordinary is my superpower. So, I am glad we have made this film. The journey has taken 18 months of my life which will now culminate in New York and Kolkata.”
Directed by Victor Mukherjee and produced by First Ray Films, Lakadbaggha is likely to release worldwide in early 2023.
