Michelle Yeoh is “heartbroken” over Netflix’s decision to not proceed with the second season of Byron Wu and Brad Falchuk’s family drama The Brothers Sun, the Oscar-winning actress revealed in an Instagram post on Wednesday.
“Heartbroken… and finding it so hard to understand why… however, I am so very proud of My Brothers Sun family and what we presented to the world,” a palpably disappointed Yeoh wrote in the post.
Keeping her faith in the spirit of resilience and not wanting to bow down to the circumstances, the Everything Everywhere All At Once actress posted pictures of her and the cast with the post. “Heads held high,” she wrote alongside the photos.
In The Brothers Sun, which debuted on Netflix on January 4, Michelle plays a matriarch of a Taiwanese mafia family living with her younger son Bruce (Sam Song Li) in Los Angeles. Her husband Big Sun (Johnny Kou) and elder son Charles (Justin Chien) head an organised crime syndicate in Taiwan. However, when Big Sun is assassinated, Charles rushes back to LA to protect his mother and younger brother, fearing that they might be the next targets of the murderer. As the worlds of the two brothers collide, chaos ensues resulting in violence as well as comedy.
Actor Li also echoed Yeoh’s sentiments, expressing his unwavering commitment towards The Brothers Sun family in the comment section.
