Veteran actor Michael Douglas and his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones talked about the growing reach of Indian films thanks to the digital revolution and streaming services at the 54th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa on Monday.

The official Instagram handle of IFFI posted pictures and videos of the Hollywood stars on Instagram. The 79-year-old actor, who is set to be honoured with the Satyajit Ray Excellence in Film Lifetime Award at the festival, looked sharp in a printed dark blue jacket and black trousers. Catherine stunned in a light blue one-shoulder gown and elegant stilettos. Their son, Dylan Douglas, also attended the event.

“It’s extraordinary to be here. We’ve been in India around three times before but this is our first time in Goa." Douglas said. “When I was with the University of Santa Barbara in the 1960s, I remember taking a film class there and Satyajit Ray was one of the directors we talked with,” he added.

Speaking about Bollywood, the Fatal Attraction actor said, “It is an incredible industry. Indian films are now travelling more internationally to other countries. And with the shift from celluloid to digital in the last 10-15 years, it has become possible to transfer the old Indian classics to digital… that has been a wonderful option. And with streaming services, you’re gonna see it travel more to the rest of the world.”

Catherine also shared her love for India and its cinema. “I love the country and the people so very much. I am a big fan of Indian cinema.”

A self-proclaimed fan of Bollywood, Catherine also said she loves singing and dancing and is a huge fan of Bollywood. She also expressed her admiration for the film The Lunchbox, starring Irrfan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Nimrat kaur, mentioning that she once had watched it twice on a flight.
