Michael C. Hall is set to return to the Dexter franchise, reprising his iconic role as the titular character in two new spin-off shows, the actor revealed at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con on Friday.
While Hall will lead Dexter: Resurrection, which is set in the present day, he will also lend his voice to narrate the inner monologue of young Dexter in a prequel series called Dexter: Original Sin. Set in the 1990s, the prequel stars Patrick Gibson as a young version of Dexter Morgan.
Originally premiering in 2006, Dexter ran for eight seasons and became a cult classic. Resurrection follows the 2021 miniseries Dexter: New Blood, which continued the story of Dexter Morgan after his supposed death in a boating accident. Since then, other spin-offs have been in development.
The prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin, boasts an impressive cast including Patrick Dempsey, Christian Slater, and Sarah Michelle Gellar. It is scheduled to premiere in December, while Dexter: Resurrection will launch in the summer of 2025.
“We’re SO back Michael C. Hall will OF COURSE be returning as the inner voice on #DexterOriginalSin ,” the official handle of the series posted on X, sharing the opening sequel of the prequel series.
