Nicki Minaj, Lana Del Rey and Cardi B raised the glamour quotient at the 2024 Met Gala red carpet in New York City on Monday with stunning ensembles following the event’s The Garden of Time dress code. This year’s theme, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,  examines innovative ways of revamping old garments. Here are some of the night’s most striking appearances.

Hand-painted recycled flowers made of aluminium were the highlight of Nicki Minaj’s sunshine yellow Marni mini dress, paired with a matching chain strap Marni clutch. Dramatic fringes, a high bun with similar repurposed petals, bejewelled fingerings and light pink press-on-nails from her Pink Friday line completed the Anaconda singer’s look.

Lana Del Rey chanelled the Sleeping Beauties theme and Garden of Time dress code in a beige custom-made Alexander McQueen gown and a dramatic headpiece. Her corseted bodice was hand-embroidered with hammered bronze-bullion hawthorn branches, while the headpiece was made of hawthorn branches wrapped in a tulle veil. A blooming rose adorned the singer-songwriter’s fingers.

As the co-chair of Met Gala 2024 along with Zendaya, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth, Jennifer Lopez sashayed in a shimmery Schiaparelli dress and a statement neckpiece. While the structured bodice resembled the wings of a butterfly, the floor-grazing train added a touch of drama.

In keeping with this year’s dress code, Gigi Hadid’s white corset gown was embroidered all over with three-dimensional yellow roses and leaves. Designed by Thom Browne, the off-shoulder dress featured a dramatic train with structured ruffles lined in black. Bold red lips, stone-studded accessories and a Marilyn Monroe-inspired bob hairstyle complemented the supermodel’s ensemble.

Shakira dazzled in a strapless crepe column gown, designed by Carolina Herrera’s Wes Gordon. The red ensemble was complemented by a 30m-long rose-shaped cape. The Colombian singer-songwriter wore her hair down, opting for nude makeup and a bejewelled snake chain to round off her look.
