Meg Ryan’s return to romcom with What Happens Later has been pushed to November 3 in anticipation of tough competition from Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert film that’ll hit theatres across North America in October.

What Happens Later, which is also Ryan’s first directorial venture, was initially slated to release on October 13 — the same day Swift’s concert film will arrive in cinemas. The 61-year-old actress, well-known for romcom films like When Harry Met Sally (1989) and Sleepless in Seattle (1993), will make a comeback to the big screen with this movie after a 14-year-long hiatus.

Re-tweeting the trailer of Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour Concert Film, What Happens Later’s production banner Bleecker Street announced the delayed release on social media by referring to one of Swift’s songs and with a fun play on the upcoming movie’s title. “So we'll take our time...Are you ready for it? Meg Ryan ends her 14-year rom-com hiatus and the #Megaissance begins with #WhatHappensLater, now happening...later. Coming only to theatres November 3!” they wrote in the caption.

Pairing up with David Duchovny for What Happens Later, Ryan plays a woman who meets her ex at an airport amid a snowstorm. While stuck at the airport, the former lovers revisit their past and discuss what could have been and may yet happen in the future.

Meanwhile, Swift’s The Eras Tour has been adapted into a concert movie and will be released in AMC theatres across North America. The film has already broken records in AMC’s 103-year history by amassing a whopping $USD 6 million from advance tickets sold in a day, according to the theatre company.
