‘Masaba Masaba’ Season 2 on Netflix from July 29; new trailers and teasers

‘Ek Villain Returns’ with John Abraham, Disha Patani, Tara Sutaria and Arjun, among other announcements

Masaba Masaba Season 2

After the super entertaining first season, Masaba Masaba Season 2 will drop on Netflix on July 29. The 27-second teaser opens with fashion designer Masaba Gupta — on whose life the show is based – taking a pregnancy test and coming out of the washroom to meet her worried mother Neena Gupta and best friend.

Now, we really want to know what happened next! Masaba, who was recently seen in Modern Love Mumbai, debuted with the semi-biographical show in 2020, where we got a glimpse of her tumultuous yet relatable personal and professional life as an urban, young, successful woman. Superstar Hrithik Roshan wrote on Masaba’s Instagram post, "Lovely ! Loved the 1st season ! 🙌"

Directed by Sonam Nair and produced by Viniyard Films, Masaba Masaba Season 2 stars Neil Bhoopalam, Rytasha Rathore, Barkha Singh, Ram Kapoor and Armaan Khera. The Netflix show marks the debut of popular content creator Kusha Kapila, and Kolkata girl Kareema Barry, who’s also a content creator. “UMMM I’M GOING TO BE IN A NETFLIX SHOW?? Gone Game Season 2

Voot Select is back with the second season of their hit show Gone Game Season 2, all set to stream from July 7. The trailer opens with the search for Sahil Gujral (Arjun Mathur). Some believe coronavirus took his life, while some think he is murdered by his own family members though his wife (Shriya Pilgaonkar, who recently wowed us in Guilty Minds and Broken News) is confident that her husband is alive. It hints at a family financial scam and that Sahil can fake his death to claim insurance money. Directed by Abhishek Sengupta and produced by Bodhitree Multimedia, the cast includes names like Sanjay Kapoor, Arjun Mathur, Shweta Tripathi Sharma, Dibyendu Bhattacharya and Harleen Sethi.

The first season was conceived, filmed and released during the 2020 lockdown. It was known to be shot at the actors’ homes and was directed via Zoom.

Ek Villain Returns

The makers of the sequel to the 2014 thriller, Ek Villain Returns, dropped two black-and-white film posters featuring Disha Patani and John Abraham in one, and Tara Sutaria and Arjun Kapoor in another.

Disha took to Instagram and wrote: "Hero aur Heroine ki stories toh bohot hain, ab baari hai Villain ki kahani jaan ne ki!" On the poster, both John and Disha flaunt their toned physique and look on with intent. Disha’s rumoured boyfriend Tiger’s mother Ayesha Shroff cheered on, “Wowwww deeeshu! Looking stunning!!❤️🔥”

On the other poster, Arjun and Tara are seated intimately on a bike. “Hero-heroine ka zamana gaya, now it’s time to hail the Villain!” read Arjun’s post.

The Mohit Suri action-thriller is all set to release on July 29. The earlier instalment had Sidharth Malhotra, Shraddha Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh in the lead.

Itlu Maredumilli Prajaneekam

Zee Studios on Thursday revealed the trailer of the highly-anticipated Telugu film Itlu Maredumilli Prajaneekam. This marks Telugu actor Allari Naresh’s 59th film and is billed to be a story based on forest dwellers. It is produced by Hasya Movies and Zee Studios, and will be directed by AR Mohan. The case features Anandhi opposite Naresh, alongside Vennela Kishore and Chammak Chandra. The studio is yet to announce the release date of the film.

Parampara: Season 2

Disney+ Hotstar on Thursday released the teaser of the second season of their Telugu crime drama series Parampara. The series features southern stars Jagapathi Babu and Sarath Kumar with Naveen Chandra, Ishaan and Aakanksha Singh in the lead. This crime drama traces an epic tale of power, corruption and generational bad blood. The show is backed by Arka Mediaworks Production, best known for the Baahubali films. Parampara: Season 2 will be streaming from July 21 on DisneyPlus Hotstar.

High School Musical: Season 3

The third season of High School Musical is in queue for release. Disney+ Hotstar let us know with a trailer that revealed a new pair of guest stars. Jesse Tyler Ferguson of Modern Family fame will play Marvin, an old family friend of Nini’s, while JoJo Siwa will play Madison, a former summer camper. The third season will find the students of East High putting on a production of Frozen at Camp Shallow Lake. High School Musical: Season 3 will premiere on July 27.

Paper Girls

Amazon Prime Video on Wednesday released the first teaser of their upcoming 80s-themed sci-fi series Paper Girls. The short teaser shows off some of the time-travelling shenanigans that viewers can expect, along with a very pink colour palette. The series is based on a 30-issue comic of the same name by Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang that followed four newspaper delivery girls who get sucked into a long-running war between various time-travelling groups. Paper Girls stars Fina Strazza, Camryn Jones and Sofia Rosinsky. The series will release on July 29.

Athena

Netflix released the official trailer of their upcoming film Athena. French filmmaker Romain Gavras teamed up with filmmaker and writer Ladj Ly for this drama. It follows the chaotic lives of three siblings hours after the tragic death of their youngest brother in unexplained circumstances. The trailer is a continuous shot where young people are walking towards what looks like a riot. Netflix has announced that the film will be released sometime in September.

Blown Away: Season 3

On Wednesday, Netflix revealed that Blown Away will return for Season 3 with some of the biggest names in the glass industry vying for the title of Best In Glass. Ten glass artists have travelled to the biggest hot shop in North America to test their artistic boundaries. The glassblowers must win over the Evaluators in every episode to avoid elimination. A reward that will change their lives and launch their careers to new heights is at stake. Blown Away is hosted by Nick Uhas with Resident Evaluator and Glass Master Katherine Gray. Blown Away: Season 3 will be streaming on Netflix from June 22.
