Victoria Alonso, a longtime Marvel Studios executive and producer whose time with the company dates back to the first Iron Man film, quit her job on March 17, according to American entertainment magazine The Hollywood Reporter.

The Argentine producer joined Marvel Studios in 2006 as executive vice-president of visual effects and post-production, serving as co-producer on early Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films such as Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger. Alonso has worked as an executive producer on every Marvel Studios film and TV show since 2012’s The Avengers.

She was promoted to executive vice-president of production in 2015, and to president of physical, post-production, VFX and animation in 2021. She oversaw all of Marvel’s post-production, including its visual effect work across films, series and games.

In addition to her work with Marvel, Alonso was also a producer on Argentina, 1985, which won the Golden Globe for best foreign language film and received an Oscar nomination in 2023.

The 57-year-old producer’s sudden departure comes in the shadow of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s poor run at the box office. The film starring Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly and Michelle Pfeiffer was slammed by both critics and fans.

As per a Variety report, despite her sudden exit on Friday, Alonso is likely to be credited as a producer on Marvel Studios’ upcoming films Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and The Marvels, along with Disney+ series Secret Invasion, Ironheart, Echo and Agatha: Coven of Chaos.
