The original big-screen version of Marvel Studios’ The Incredible Hulk, starring Edward Norton in the titular role, has finally arrived on Disney+, according to a statement shared by the streaming platform on social media.
“Smashing news. 👊💥 Marvel Studios' The Incredible #Hulk arrives tomorrow on #DisneyPlus,” the streamer wrote on Instagram on Thursday.
Released in 2008 via Universal, the rights of this early Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film have now been reportedly reverted to Marvel Studios, which cleared the deck for its arrival on Disney+.
Helmed by Clash of the Titans (2010) and Now You See Me (2013) director Louis Leterrier, the film also features Liv Tyler, Tim Roth, William Hurt, Tim Blake Nelson, Ty Burrell and Christina Cabot in important roles.
The film chronicles the origin story of the Hulk — how Bruce Banner, a nuclear physicist and biochemist at Culver University got exposed to gamma rays which turned him into the misunderstood man-monster who gets stronger as he gets angrier. The Incredible Hulk grossed over $264.8 million at the worldwide box office.
Norton was later replaced by Mark Ruffalo as Hulk for MCU appearances, starting with 2012’s The Avengers. The Incredible Hulk was the second MCU film after 2008’s Iron Man.
