Actress Maria Sten’s Frances Neagley will return for Amazon Prime Video’s action crime series Reacher Season 3, which is currently in the works, the streaming platform announced through a statement on Wednesday.

“The third season of Reacher is currently filming in Toronto,” the streamer confirmed, revealing that the storyline would revolve around Alan Ritchson’s titular character going undercover to rescue an informant held by a foe from his past.

The third instalment of the action thriller show will be based on Persuader, the seventh book in Lee Child’s eponymous book series, disclosed Ritchson via an Instagram post on Wednesday.

“Sometimes there’s more to lobstah than just ice-cold lobstah,” the 41-year-old actor captioned his video, unveiling the inspiration behind the upcoming season of the series.

Neagley’s inclusion in Reacher Season 3 will be a diversion from the original storyline as she doesn’t appear in the book. While Child serves as the executive producer of the series, Reacher’s script has been written by Emmy-nominated writer Nick Santora.

According to the statement released by Prime Video, Reacher Season 2 was globally the most-viewed series on the streamer during its premiere weekend. The series went on to witness a 50 per cent growth in its viewership worldwide in just three days since its release on December 15 last year.

All episodes of the first two seasons of Reacher are currently available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
