Marathi film Aatmapamphlet, helmed by debutant director Ashish Avinash Bende, received a roaring response at its premiere at the 73rd edition of the Berlin International Film Festival on February 22.
Starring Om Bendkhale, Pranjali Shrikant Bhimrao Munde and Ketaki Saraf in pivotal roles, Aatmapamphlet was selected in the Generation 14-plus competition category for the festival. This heartwarming tale of one-sided love revolves around a young boy who falls in love with one of his classmates as the world changes around him.
“Aatmapamphlet is my passion project. I don't think a first-time director can ask for anything more than this! The film's screening at the Berlin International Film Festival is a high point in my life,” said Ashish Avinash Bende.
Produced by Aanand L Rai’s Colour Yellow Productions, Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Zee Studios, the movie has been written by Paresh Mokashi, who has written and directed films like Harishchandrachi Factory (2009) and Vaalvi (2023).
Speaking about the film, Zee Studios CEO Shariq Patel said they always believed in the power of regional storytelling. “We are proud to have added Marathi cinema to the lists of cinema-enthusiasts all over the world. We have affirmed our resolve to carve a niche for the Indian entertainment industry in the global circuit,” he added.
