The first trailer of Malayalam anthology series Manorathangal featuring Kamal Haasan, Mammootty, Mohanlal, Fahadh Faasil and Madhoo was dropped on Monday on the occasion of screenwriter-director MT Vasudevan Nair’s birthday.
The one-minute-52-second-long trailer begins with Kamal offering a glimpse into the world and legacy of Nair. Subsequent scenes showcase Mohanlal and Mammootty playing characters from Nair’s short stories. The video contains snippets showing different time periods, with Mohanlal’s segment shot in black-and-white and that of Mammootty in colours.
The trailer also features Parvathy Thiruvothu, Biju Menon, Nadiya Moidu, Asif Ali, Shanthi Krishna, Indrajith Sukumaran, Surabhi Lakshmi, Aparna Balamurali and Siddique.
Manorathangal is a nine-episode anthology based on Nair’s short stories. Priyadarshan has directed two episodes of the series, while Shyamaprasad, Aswathy V Nair, Mahesh Narayanan, Ranjith, Santosh Sivan and Rathish Ambat have helmed the other episodes.
Manorathangal is slated to hit ZEE5 in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi on August 15.
