Two films bankrolled by Zee Studios — Devashish Makhija’s Joram and Anurag Kashyap's Kennedy — have been included in the list of films to be screened at the Sydney Film Festival, to be held from June 7 to June 15 in Australia.

“Joram and Kennedy are both unique stories. It has been a delight collaborating with such great talent i.e., Anurag Kashyap and Devashish Makhija. It’s a matter of great honour that films by Zee Studios are reaching the most coveted global film festivals. After Rotterdam, Cannes and Berlin we now look forward to wowing the audiences in Sydney," Shariq Patel, CBO of Zee Studios, said.

While Manoj Bajpayee-starrer Joram has made it to the main competition section of the upcoming film festival in Australia.

"For Joram to be selected in the main competition at Australia’s biggest — the Sydney Film Festival — becomes more special since we find great synergies between the larger sustainability concerns of the festival and Joram's own narrative that seeks to question the cost of development and the inequalities of justice. It feels like labour and passion rewarded as we at Makhija films watch Joram continue to find deep resonance amongst curators and audiences of the best in World Cinema," said the film’s director Devashish Makhija.

Anurag Kashyap’s directorial Kennedy, starring Rahul Bhat, will not be a part of the official competition at the festival but it will be screened for the audience in Australia.

"I am so happy that Kennedy will be shown next at Sydney after Cannes, and on top of that, I will finally get to attend the beautiful festival. It’s going to be a beautiful journey for Kennedy,” Kashyap said.

While Joram has premiered earlier at the prestigious IFFR 2023, Kennedy is all set to premiere at Festival De Cannes later this month.
