The makers of Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Stree (2018) have dropped the teaser of their latest horror comedy Munjya featuring a peculiar creature that appears to have a special fondness for Malaika Arora’s 2011 hit track Munni Badnam Hui.

Dropped by Maddock Films on Tuesday, the one minute-23-second-long teaser begins in a dense forest in which a strange creature with skeletal limbs moves from one tree to the others. The creature then leaps on to the main road and scales roofs of various houses in a neighbourhood before peering through a window of one where someone is watching Malaika Arora’s Munni Badnam Hui music video on television.

Though the creature is shown as curious and benign at the beginning, the teaser also hints at something sinister behind the surface as it attacks the person right after he switches off the television.

Touted as “a perfect blend of comedy and horror for Gen Z audiences”, the Aditya Sarpotdar directorial stars Sharvari, Abhay Verma, Mona Singh and S. Sathyaraj in significant roles.

The screenplay of Munjya has been developed by Yogesh Chandekar and Niren Bhatt, while Sachin Sanghvi and Jigar Saraiya have composed the music for the film.

Produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik, Munjya is slated to hit theaters on June 7.
