Never Have I Ever star Maitreyi Ramakrishnan on Thursday sang Bob Dylan’s 1997 song Make You Feel My Love in a video on Instagram, prompting fans to compare her to the Disney princess Rapunzel.

“But can she even sing tho?? Idk but this has been in my camera roll for over a month now, so hope y’all enjoy,” Maitreyi wrote alongside the video shared on the social media platform. “Shoutout to my teacher who’s always pushing me to challenge myself and surprise myself,” she added.

The actress, who plays Devi Vishwakumar in the Netflix comedy series, mentioned that the song was originally sung by Dylan and later covered by Adele.

In the video, Maitreyi sports a blue-black tank top paired with a grey full-sleeve flannel shirt. Floral earrings, minimal makeup and wavy tresses completed her look. She performs the song in a studio in the presence of her teacher. The actress recreates Dylan’s track from his album Time Out of Mind with her mellifluous voice coupled with a peaceful piano solo. At the end of the video, Maitreyi’s teacher says, “I’m so proud of you”, making the actress smile.

Fans gushed over Maitreyi’s singing prowess and hailed her as a Disney princess in real life. “Give her the Rapunzel role already,” one of them wrote. “So you're taking classes to star in the Rapunzel live action right... I caught it already,” another fan commented.

Maitreyi’s Never Have I Ever co-star Megan Suri, who played her on-screen friend Aneesa Qureshi, dropped an emotional face emoji in the comments section.

Dylan’s Make You Feel My Love is a modern classic that has been covered by various artists including Adele, Billy Joel and Garth Brooks. The lyrics evoke a profound sense of love, devotion and reassurance. The song expresses a deep commitment to stand by someone through thick and thin, offering unwavering support and comfort.

Never Have I Ever recently concluded with Devi ending up with Ben after years of bickering, misunderstandings and academic rivalry. Maitreyi lent her voice to Marissa in Big Mouth Zipp Storm in My Little Pony: Secrets of Starlight. She has also clinched the People's Choice Awards in The Female TV Star of 2022 and The Comedy TV Star of 2022 categories for Never Have I Ever.
