Mainak Bhaumik is all set to start the shoot of his new film, Rappa Roy O Full Stop Dot Com, starring Amartya Ray, Rajnandini Paul, Bratya Basu and Shantilal Mukherjee. Produced by Friends Communication and Dhiman Barman, the film follows Rappa Roy (Amartya Ray), a graduate of art college and a journalist at the ‘Dainik Jayadhvaja’ newspaper. Like Tintin, Rappa has a knack for jumping into various adventurous expeditions.

However, his father strongly disapproves of his work. Instead, Rappa’s uncle, the police IG, encourages him. As a result, Rappa often finds himself in trouble. On some of these adventures, Rappa is accompanied by his friend Toni, whose obsession with photography and his lack of common sense leads to many hilarious situations.

“One of the main attractions for doing Rappa Roy was the idea to adapt the world of a graphic novel which brings in a good deal of fantasy to the real world. I’ve been enjoying the process of delving into that world which is a welcome change for me not just in terms of working on the material but also as a viewer,” said Mainak.

“We are thrilled to bring Rappa Roy. This marks a significant milestone in Bengali cinema as we introduce a young, quirky sleuth who promises to captivate audiences with his wit and charm. We are confident that Rappa Roy will not only entertain but also inspire the youth, adding a fresh and vibrant dimension to the Bengali thriller,” said producer Firdausul Hasan.

t2 spotlights the key players...

Rappa: He is a regular Bengali guy in his late 20s. He is fitter than the average Bengali guy his age. He has a sense of humour; he is adventurous, at times goofy, can’t tolerate injustice, but seldom has the courage to speak out. He is a cartoonist working for a newspaper, is dissatisfied with his job, and wants to do more.
Dolphin Ganguly: Dolphin (Rajnandini) is a glamorous actress who is compassionate, emotional as well as strong.
Shankar Roy: He is a retired engineer who enjoys the good things of life. He is over-protective of his son and is a fun-loving person.
Tony: He is an aspiring filmmaker and a part-time caretaker of a creche. Tony wears glasses with thick frames and has a ponytail.
Laltu Mondal: He is in his 50s and has a way with words. He is very calculative and has a comic side to him. A go-getter, he is a big fan of Bangla serials. Laltu tends to be very romantic with his wife in a dramatic manner.
Bubli: She is always glued to Bangla serials and forgets to cook or order food if a favourite character in the serial goes through hell. She is a big fan of Dolphin.
