Chennai is a special place for Mahendra Singh Dhoni and that’s why he wanted his debut production to be in Tamil, revealed the former Indian cricketer’s wife Sakshi Dhoni at LGM: Let’s Get Married’s trailer and audio launch event on July 10.

“I wanted to develop the concept and did it through him. Dhoni wanted me to do it in Tamil as Chennai is the auspicious place to have the best start,” she said.

LGM: Let’s Get Married, an upcoming Tamil-language movie, is the first production under MS Dhoni and Sakshi Dhoni’s banner, Dhoni Entertainment Pvt Ltd.

Opening his speech with a joke, M.S. Dhoni stressed his connection with the state of Tamil Nadu. “I didn’t teach any bad words to my wife. The reason is very simple, I don’t know bad words in Tamil,” the cricketer began his speech, drawing laughter from the audience. “How many of you are married here? You all know who the boss of the house is then,” he quipped.

Talking about LGM: Let’s Get Married, Dhoni said the film was shot in a record time. “I wanted to make everybody happy and I just told my team two things — provide good food for everybody and once you decide something go for it and don’t think twice,” he added.

The Chennai Super Kings skipper also said LGM was “a clean” family drama that could be enjoyed with every member of the family. “I can watch it with my daughter too…The film is based on how a guy handles the issues between his mum and his girlfriend,” he explained.

Helmed by Ramesh Thamilmani, LGM: Let’s Get Married features Harish Kalyan, Ivana and Nadiya in lead roles. It is slated to hit cinemas in July, but the makers are yet to announce the release date.
