Actress Subhashree Ganguly is set to play Goddess Durga in this year’s Mahalaya broadcast on Zee Bangla titled Nabarupe Devi Durga, the television channel announced on social media alongside a short teaser.

Nabarupe Devi Durga will focus on the various forms of Goddess Mahamaya. Though the details about who will portray the other forms remain under wraps, it is certain that Subhashree Ganguly will be seen as Goddess Durga.

In the five-second-long promo video shared by Zee Bangla, Subhashree is seen adorned in gold jewellery and a red benarasi sari, preparing for battle with a conch in hand. Her fierce appearance, alongside a lion, embodies the warrior spirit of Durga.

Subhashree had also played the part of Goddess Durga in the Mahalaya special programme on Zee Bangla in 2022. The actress is currently awaiting the release of her latest film Babli, slated to hit cinemas on August 15. Directed by Raj Chakrabarty, the romantic drama also features Abir Chatterjee and Sauraseni Maitra.

Meanwhile, Star Jalsha has also released a teaser for their Mahalaya programme featuring Koel Mallick as Goddess Durga. Sandipta Sen and Madhumita Sarcar are set to feature as different incarnations of the Goddess in this programme.
