Singer-songwriter Madonna is slowly recovering after experiencing a health scare, which led to her admission to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and postponement of her Celebration World Tour, disclosed the pop icon through an Instagram post on Monday.
Sharing a heartfelt note alongside a selfie on the social media platform, the 64-year-old performer also confirmed that her Celebration Tour, which was supposed to start this week, will be rescheduled soon.
Madonna started her long post by thanking her fans for their love and affection throughout her career. “Thank you for your positive energy, Prayers and words of healing and encouragement. I have felt your love. I'm on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life. My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children. My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour. I also didn't want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show. I hate to disappoint anyone.”
The Papa Don’t Preach singer assured her fans she was getting stronger and ended the note with the promise of being back with a bang. “My focus now is my health and getting stronger and I assure you, I'll be back with you as soon as I can! The current plan is to reschedule the North American leg of the tour and to begin in October in Europe. I couldn't be more grateful for your care and support. Love, M,” she signed off.
On June 24, Madonna was rushed to a New York City hospital after she was found unresponsive. She was intubated for at least one night in the intensive care unit. Following Madonna’s emergency hospitalisation, it was announced that all of her immediate commitments, including her much-anticipated Celebration tour, have been “paused”.
