Pop icon Madonna was found unresponsive and immediately rushed to a New York City hospital on Saturday, her longtime manager Guy Oseary confirmed via an Instagram post.
“On Saturday June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which led to a several day stay in the ICU,” the statement reads.
The 64-year-old singer was reportedly intubated for at least one night. The Material Girl singer is "still under medical care," Guy’s post confirmed. However, a full recovery is expected.
The post also states that Madonna’s Celebration tour around the globe has been indefinitely postponed in light of the recent incident. "At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour. We will share more details with you soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows," the statement ends.
Earlier this year, Madonna had announced her Celebration tour to celebrate the 40th anniversary of her musical career. The 84-date global tour was supposed to start off on July 15 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
