Pop icon Madonna will celebrate the 40th anniversary of her breakout single, Holiday, by embarking on her first-ever greatest hits tour around the globe.
The Material Girl singer has taken to Instagram and YouTube to announce her upcoming world tour, titled ‘Celebration Tour’, where she would churn out the greatest hits from her four-decade-long career, ranging from her self-titled debut album in 1983 to 2019’s Madame X. She deleted her Instagram posts ahead of the announcement and shared a video announcement of the tour.
The video is a cheeky nod to Alec Keshishian’s 1991 documentary Truth or Dare that chronicles Madonna’s controversial Blonde Ambition tour in 1990. It begins with a game of truth or dare at a dinner party where the 64-year-old singer-songwriter is seen with her close friends Judd Apatow, Larry Owens, Meg Stalter, Lil Wayne, Bob the Drag Queen, Diplo, Jack Black, Kate Berlant, Eric Andre and Amy Schumer. The game ends with comedian-actress Amy Schumer daring Madonna to go on a tour.
The tour will kick off in Vancouver on July 15 and then move across to New York, Barcelona, Paris, London before it wraps up in Amsterdam on December 1. Tickets for the tour are going on sale from January 20.
